Stained glass is something that we are used to seeing in windows or doors, but Liz Daly-Korbyski's has taken it to a whole new level. The artist/jewelry designer is using the idea of stained glass to make a complex, colorful abstractions that look just as good on someone's body as they would on a wall.
One of the few Upstate artists who was invited to Artisphere, she says she started by "making stained glass for people's necks."
Daly-Korybski studied glass blowing at USC and after some time in the corporate world decided to make a business out of her art. Nowadays you'll find her at Daly Designs, located at Studio 102 in the West End.
Besides providing people with something beautiful to look at, Daly-Korybski wants her work to sell. "I want people to walk in with $20 or $30 and be able to buy something," she says.
Her ideas come to her when she leaves her house so she usually has a sketchbook on hand, but sometimes she'll use whatever is available. "When I go into Chicora Alley, the guys just laugh," Daly-Korybski says. "They just hand me a pen and beverage naps."
